Only half an hour's drive from the centre of Bar lies one of Montenegro's most sought-after canyons — Međureč. It sits on the slopes of Mount Rumija, just a few kilometres from the Adriatic coast, making it an extraordinary combination of mountain wilderness and seaside accessibility.
Although relatively short at under 2 km, Međureč makes up for its length with intensity. It carries a large volume of water even in the height of summer, and features beautiful vertical drops, deep natural pools and impressive rock architecture throughout. This is one of the few Montenegrin canyons that feels truly wild at every point of the descent.
Access requires a transfer by all-terrain vehicle followed by a short walk — a small preview of the adventure ahead.
