Do I need experience for rock climbing?
No — guided beginner sessions teach you everything, provide all the gear and start you on easy, well-protected routes.
Rock climbing has a reputation for being the preserve of the super-fit and fearless. In reality it is one of the most beginner-friendly adventure sports when you go with a guide — and most people are surprised how much they can climb on day one.
On a guided sport-climbing taster, your instructor manages the ropes from the ground, so you simply focus on moving up the rock. You will learn to tie in, trust the equipment and use your feet — climbing is far more about balance and footwork than arm strength. All gear, including shoes, harness, rope and helmet, is provided, and routes are chosen to match your level. Want to know where and when? See our complete climbing guide and best month to climb.
